Name:Wayne M. Gilmore
Occupation:Dentist
Age:75
I've been running for 15 years,
I started running because I wanted to lose some weight and maintain my muscle tone.
If I could no longer run, I would play more golf and tennis.
My favorite run is Steamboat Classic 4 mile in Peoria, IL.
I like to run with my children and grand-children.
Something most people don't know about me is that I was Team Captain of the 1955 Beloit College basketball team. My team still holds the record for most consecutive wins (22).
My favorite thing to do after a hard workout is take a shower and enjoy an ice cold beer.
I enjoy sports. I love to play golf, tennis, and ski. I also love to read and travel.
I am inspired by my wife, Lois. After all she has been through, she keeps pushing herself. She is feisty!
An obstacle or challenge I’ve overcome with my running is a defective, inherited gene of laziness.
The local runner I most admire is Lois A Gilmore.
To push myself on a run, I count deep inhaling breaths and keep on going.
My greatest running accomplishment is winning my age group at the Chileda Classic in LaCrosse.
My next goal is to keep running and stay healthy.
My advice to other runners....Just keep going and never stop working.
I plan to run until it is physically not possible to do it anymore or I win the Boston Marathon. Whichever comes first.
